According to Nonprofit Tech for Good, mobile and digital wallet payments have begun to impact the nonprofit sector in 2016, with Apple Pay leading the charge.  As the only fundraising service provider to offer Apple Pay, Crowdster is a clear frontrunner in mobile donation technology.

Apple Pay enables iPhone and iPad users to donate with a few taps and a finger scan.  Since easier donating means more donating, this is great news for cause organizations!

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is Apple’s cutting edge system for making purchases at many major retailers and through iPhone apps. It allows people to use Touch ID (i.e., a fingerprint), which is linked to their secure financial data, to complete a purchase, thus sparing them the step of manually entering contact and credit card information into their phones. Apple Pay is accepted at more than a million locations in the US and supports credit and debit cards from over 300 banks in the US, including Bank of America, Capital One, Chase, Citibank and Wells Fargo.

Anyone who owns an iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, or Apple Watch can currently use Apple Pay, and these devices are incredibly popular. As of March 2015, an estimated total of 38 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units were in use in the US. Just three days after Apple launched the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models on September 19, 2015, the company announced that it had sold over 13 million of them. While Apple has been tight-lipped about the Apple Watch, analyst estimates of first-year sales range from 15 to more than 30 million.
